do not do business with japanese motors...

my brother bought a motor from japanese motors and was told it had low miles and was a good engine. it turn out to be a bad motor, my brother went back to JM and they told him that he over heated the motor and that it voided the warrenty. long story short owner fixed the motor and guaranteed not to over heat and a week later the motor over heated out of no where and now the motor is done. my brother throw away $2500 (purchase of motor and repairs) and hes back to square one with his truck.

heres a link from another site that his friend posted. my brother is taking legal action towards the business.

That sucks man. I'm to hear that your brother has run into this type of issue. Links to their business?

Just out of curiosity how do you blow the motor up so quick regardless of overheating? If you see it over heating don't keep driving it..... A motor can take quite a bit of heat before it gives up the ghost. I don't know the whole story behind the engine but I will say this improper installation could also have played a role in the demise of your new engine. A few problems such as air in the coolant system will cause excessive heat, bad thermostat, or even the use of a fan with insufficient CFM's.

It is customary to do a compression test prior to installing any imported motor regardless of whether or not the "seller" says its "good." You have to expect the worst when you import a used motor because if the previous owner was a enthusiast then you know it's possible that it may have had a hard life.

And FYI am in no shape or form affiliated with said importer just throwing in my 2 cents nor am I trying to bash you. Shit happens life goes on

I am going to have to agree with this post.....I have heated my H22a up on many occasions...(Water pump,no fan, ect.....) But as long as you keep an eye on your temperature gauge you can catch it on time and cut the car off and turn on the heater. Only not paying attention to the gauges or faulty gauges can cause a motor to get so hot that it blows up. No offense that is just my experience.... Not to say anything about the condition of the motor...
Always watch your gauges people! ..You never know...My homeboy did the same thing in his GSR CRX. He just had it tuned too and a simple easy to fix overheating problem blew his engine because he didn't bother to look at the gauges..No motor deserves that kind of trust especially not the way most of us drive.

By the way I bought my motor and tranny from JDM racing motors and 3 years and many races later it doesn't leak and the compression is still the same. I would recommend them to anyone!

as soon as the motor was put in it was sluggish. my brother had to retard the timing just so it can drive decent. he did fail to do a compression check but a "good" motor shouldnt be sluggish. after the motor went out on him the first time and got it back "fixed" it over heated from one minute to the next. the owner of the business didnt even want to warrenty the motor after fixing. that was a red flag ther, but my brother was trying to be civil with the owner and wanted the problem fixed but the owner kept getting i-rate because my brother told him that he was a mechanic to and that everything the owner was saying about the motor overheating contridicted itself with the "explination" the owner was saying. he shouldn't be saying his motors are good if he doesnt even check them for himself. the guy that delivered the motor to my brother didnt even know if it where the motor originally came from. the owner said it was jdm and the delivery guy said it was usdm...
